Madeira sits in the Atlantic Ocean at the top of an extinct underwater volcano. Freechoice: Explore the Botanical Gardens before riding a traditional toboggan back to the waterfront or tour the island and visit a sugarcane factory. Alternatively, visit a family owned winery with over 200 years of experience.  

Discovery: Hike through the Levada do Norte one of the longest and oldest levadas on Madeira Island before visiting the Cabo Girão Skywalk, or kayak along one of the natural reserves of Madeira exploring caves and deserted beaches.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a beautiful city situated in the Canary archipelago. Discover the wide avenues, squares, modernist architecture, beautiful beaches and exotic landscaped gardens. Today choose one of our Scenic Freechoice activities or join a more active Scenic Discovery excursion.  

Freechoice: Soak up the history and culture of Santa Cruz during a guided walking tour through the streets and plazas that define this cosmopolitan city. Or, explore the UNESCO Heritage listed ancient capital of La Laguna, before arriving in the wine capital of Tacoronte and enjoy a decadent wine tasting.

The island of Santo Antão is a cross between Morocco and the Himalayas. With immense volcanic walls, towering green peaks, and perfectly farmed terraced valleys, this island is relatively untouched by tourism. Porto Novo began as a fishing village, and was only recognised as a city in 2005. Explore the colonial history of the capital of Santo Antão and maybe sample the famous ‘grogue’, Cape Verde rum.  Today, explore through a Scenic Freechoice activity or join a more active Scenic Discovery excursion.

Day 18 | Arrive Rio de Janeiro

Welcome to the vibrant Rio de Janeiro. Upon disembarkation, you will be picked up from the port and privately escorted to your hotel to settle in.

Day 19 | Rio de Janeiro

Catch a first glimpse of the city today as you tour Rio's best-known landmarks. The city is divided into a north zone and a south zone by the Serra da Carioca, steep mountains that are part of the Parque Nacional da Tijuca. These mountains descend to the edge of the city centre, where both zones meet. Corcovado Christ statue on one of these mountain peaks offers the best way to become familiar with the city's geography - from there you have views of both zones. The statue Christ the Redeemer with its outstretched arms is, after the Sugar Loaf, the most famous site of the city and a favourite motive on Rio's postcards. After lunch (included) enjoy a sightseeing ride along Rio's famous beaches Ipanema and Copacabana before taking a cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you can get prime views of the city, Baia de Guanabara and the winding coastline.

Day 20 | Rio de Janeiro - Iguazu Falls

You will be picked up from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro and privately escorted to the airport for your flight to Iguazu Falls. After a 3-hour flight, you arrive into the Brazilian gate to the Iguazu Falls. On route to your hotel, tour the Brazilian side of the Iguazu National Park. You wander along the ' Cataratas trail' (distance 1.5km) and enjoy panoramic views of the falls, one of the more beautiful natural landmarks in all of South America. At the end of the trail a catwalk provides breathtaking views of the tallest waterfall, the 'Devil's Throat'. The tour ends at the top of the falls accessed through a panoramic elevator. You will be dropped off at your hotel located within the national park.

Day 21 | Iguazu Falls - Puerto Iguazu - Iguazu Falls

Today you head towards the Argentine side of Iguazu National Park for a day tour. The majority of the falls (approx 80%) are on this side of the park covering an area of 550km². Enjoy a walk along the upper and lower trails. The lower circuit (1400m) has balconies with marvellous bottom-up views of the falls (the same falls that you see from above in the upper circuit). The superior circuit is about 650m long with a low degree of difficulty. This trail has six viewpoints with panoramic views of the falls. Between the two circuits, you will find the station to board the ecological trail to reach the final station, The Devil's Throat. At this point, a bridge (2200m round trip) leads out over the Iguazu River and small islands ending at the mighty Devil's Throat. The Devil's Throat is 150m wide and the tallest of all the falls, having a height of 82m. The bridge goes right out to the head of the falls, so be prepared for plenty of spray. Up next, enjoy lunch at El Fortin, a restaurant conveniently located at the junction of the upper and lower trails in Iguazu National Park (Argentine side). The buffet includes both international and local dishes, but the meat that comes from the grill 'Asado' is definitely the buffet's most preferred option (drinks not included).

IMPORTANT NOTE: The upper circuit has a low degree of difficulty and ramps. The lower circuit requires more physical effort due to its stairs. If you have any physical impairment, we recommend avoiding the last section of this circuit.

Day 22 | Iguazu Falls - Rio de Janeiro

You will be picked up from your hotel in Iguazu Falls and privately escorted to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. After a 3-hour flight, you reach the carnival city once again.
