The cosy town of Skagway is one of the most popular stops on the Inside Passage route for Alaska cruise lines. It retains much of its Gold Rush-era charm, with rustic boardwalks and storefronts that transport you back to the Old West.
Head to Klondike Gold Rush National Park Museum for an in-depth look at the terrain, or, catch a vintage locomotive from the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad through the famously steep Chilkoot Trail to enjoy sweeping mountain views on the climb toward Canada.
